Connecting Through Yoga and Pilates

I teach through a trauma sensitive lens. What does this look like in a yoga or pilates session or class? It means you will be invited to join in, rather than be directed. While using a student centered, strentgh based approach, I invite you to connect with yourself through your breath, encourage curiosity while practicing kindness towards yourself and honouring your body. During your exploration, you will find peace when connecting to your heart.

It is with gratitude that I am able to share the Yoga teachings that have been borrowed from India.

I have also been blessed to have great mentors and teachers that have generously shared their knowledge with me.

“Yoga” is the Sanskrit word for “Union”. This ancient practice dates back to pre-vedic Indian traditions, possibly in the Indus valley civilization around 3000 BCE.

Yoga continues to gain popularity because its themes are timeless and accessible to everyone. Although the physical postures are the most practiced limb of yoga in the west, yoga offers so much more. Yoga can provide the tools you need to refine the relationship you have with yourself and how you act in the world.

Pilates Method

Joseph H. Pilates began developing the Pilates Method in Germany, during the early 1900's. He immigrated to USA and opened his first official studio in New York city in 1926. Pilates changes how you relate to your own body and how you move in daily life activities. It enhances posture, improves core strength, and overall flexibility.

"Pilates is complete coordination of body, mind and spirit."
